Selling Privately vs. Selling Through Auction

At ADESA, many of our customers opt to sell through our auction after various attempts to do so privately.

We constantly hear that selling privately can be a waste of time, and many potential buyers try to low-ball right off the hop. Often times, our customers simply aren’t comfortable with negotiating the sale of their vehicle to begin with.

Fortunately at ADESA, customers are able to set their minimum sale price. This means the vehicle will not sell unless the highest bid hits that price or better.

The obvious advantage is that buyers have no idea what the seller’s asking price is. Around 30 per cent of the time, the highest bid actually exceeds that price.

Of course, the opportunity to negotiate with the highest bidder is still present, but unlike selling privately, we’ll do the haggling for you.
